Bader’s father is Jewish and his mother is Sicilian. Bader, who was selected to play for Team Israel in the 2023 World Baseball Classic but withdrew because of an injury, announced he was willing to be identified as Jewish just before the start of the 2023 season.

Harrison was selected from the University of Florida by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 June Amateur Draft. He was the 11th player in Florida school history to record more than 20 home runs, more than 100 RBIs, and more than 30 steals over his three-year career.

After batting .297 with 19 homers in 97 games at Triple-A Memphis, he made his major-league debut with St. Louis on July 25, 2017 against the Colorado Rockies. He hit his first home run off Johnny Cueto in an 11-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

In 2021, Bader’s .973 zone rating was the highest by any major-league outfielder in history since the category began being tracked in 1987. He won a Gold Glove Award that season.

On Aug. 22, 2022, the Cardinals sent Bader to the New York Yankees just before the trade deadline. Bader hit five postseason home runs, including three in the AL Division Series against Cleveland.
