Jake was selected by Colorado in the fifth round of the 2018 draft after a senior season at UCLA where he was named first-team All-Pac 12 and an academic All-American. In 2021 he compiled a 6-1 record with a 3.62 ERA while striking out one batter per inning at both the Class AA and Triple-A levels. On June 11, 2022 the right-hander was promoted to the major leagues and made his debut five days later, throwing one scoreless inning in relief against the Cleveland Guardians. He was selected to play for Team Israel in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Jake was a first-team mid-season All-Star while pitching for Asheville of the Class A South Atlantic League.
